Today we'll be reviewing the Neso Tents Beach Tent with Sand Anchors, Portable Canopy Sunshade. Our reviews are based on in-depth research, real life experience and product analysis.

Let's get started with our in depth review!

Pros

  • Unique Sun Shade with black anchor lines
  • Versatility on where it can be setup - on beach or anywhere
  • Lightweight and smaller footprint when not in use compared to large sunshades
  • Poles can be adjusted to allow shaded area adjustments
  • We love the high quality Nylon/Lycra blend of the shade and rust-proof aluminum poles

Cons

  • Only the periwinkle blue beach tent is water resistant
  • Can be unstable in high wind or changing wind
  • Sand filled anchors are a little bit of work, and obviously sandy when you go to leave.
Neso Grande

Neso Grande

The Neso brand makes some unique sun canopies. If you're looking to try something different then your typical heavy weighted popup sun shade this might be for you. This tent is well made and very light to carry. The concept is so simple, yet so effective - two poles, a shade and two weighted anchors, once you're up and look at it, you'll think it's an engineering master that designed this thing.

Setup can vary depending on your beach and weather situation. You have to fill the bags with sand or rocks and stretch each side out, if not wind will take this thing down like a kite. You want to set the "front" towards the wind - this can be a challenge if the wind is changing direction though. Another tip we found is burying the bag as needed if the bag moves. Dig a hole where the bag was originally set, not where it has moved to: dig hole, drop bag, cover.

Alot of Neso owners report the benefit of getting the 2 extra poles, this allows you to really control the overall height of your canopy, and we kind of like this.

One very cool thing about the Neso is if your in a crowded beach situation - when you set this thing up the black colored anchor lines stretch out and you create a sort of buffer zone around your setup. Social distancing friendly - go with the grande!

Do yourself a favor if you are looking at these sunshades, make sure to go with the Neso brand as we cannot speak to the quality of the copycats.

Our recent kayak trip, the neso packs up nice and small and made it a great beach day!

When we first setup this thing, it was a bit intimidating based on past experiences with sun tents at the beach but it actually was really easy. Once you layout the sheet flat you can see where the wind is hitting, that will be your side to pitch up. The bags fill up easy with sand, especially if you have a mini shovel, no need to bury them if the wind isn't kicking. One cool feature that gets overlooked is the bag - it's great size, has separated pockets for the poles versus the cloth and there is even an insulated pocket that acts like a cooler. The other cool thing is the tent is a nice material that seems to repel sand, so you don't have to worry about packing up half the beach with you when you leave.
