Introduction

Today we'll be reviewing the Eton Rugged Rukus Rechargeable & Solar Powered Wireless Bluetooth Sound System & Smartphone Charger Our reviews are based on in-depth research, real life experience and product analysis.

Let's get talk about this bluetooth speaker and charger and see if it brings the Rukus with all it's Ruggedness Xtremness!

Pros

  • Super Rugged, Heavy Duty, Splash proof case
  • Solar Panel charging is awesome for all day jams
  • USB port to plug in and charge devices
  • 2 Versions, Rugged Rukus or Rugged Xtreme (bigger battery)

Cons

  • No built in charging cables, so you'll need to have them on hand
  • Bluetooth Range and Sound Quality is so-so
  • Solar Charging can be spotty

This bluetooth speaker and device charger is pretty hardcore, and while it doesn't have the sound quality of some brands like Bose, it makes up for it in versatility and adaptability. If the power is out, you'll have pretty awesome way to charge up your phone.

Over the years of owning this thing, we have beat it up, left it out, and it's still kicking. Ours has a little bit of saltwater corrosion on the metal speaker front cage, and probably some sand inside of it. In our opinion it's a strong buy for the beach but the fact you can use it when there is no power but the sun's light makes it a no brainer. Go for the Xtreme Edition and you'll get a better battery (5200 mAh) compared to the Rugged (1650 mAh), and faster Solar Charging with 2.6 Watts compared to 1.85 Watts of the Rugged model.
